Becoming Self-Sufficient

Jane Jimono believes that if the Angelica Chalk school reaches government standards, then the school would become certified and this would attract those willing to pay tuition fees. To reach such standards, the school requires certified teachers and the essential text books and equipment (listed in the 'Get Involved' tab). With the money obtained through school tuition fees, Jane will be able to renew the eight year land lease and provide for the children in the orphanage.

Costs to Become Self-Sufficient

  • Roughly $300 US dollars for equipment

  • Roughly $150 for monthly teacher wages

  • An eight year land least at the cost of roughly $285 US dollars per month for the house and roughly $100 US dollars for the school per month. A rough total of $390 US dollars to receive a certificate for their land lease.

With certified teachers, an eight year land lease, and the equipment required by the Kenyan school syllabus; the Priscilla Foundation can send for a government inspector and become certified. Certified schools attract parents willing to pay tuition fees, which would be used to finance the orphanage.

Future Goals

Jane's primary goal at the Priscilla Foundation is to provide a secure home to those within her care. Currently Jane fears that deep down the kids know that their current "home" may not last forever. She longs for the children in her care to feel that they are family, and that they receive ever have to go away.

Jane's long term goals include raising the funds needed to send her 18 year old daughter Rose to law school, so that she can become a children's lawyer and assist with issues of adoption and abuse. Jane also wishes to be able to send one of her other daughters to psychology classes, so that they could become a child psychologist.
